Bear Paw with Bear Scene by Dugout Creek Designs

One broad bear track, five toe pads and claws cut open across the top, holds a whole wilderness in its heel: a bear walking past pines below the mountains. Hand-cut steel in Distressed Copper, Hammered Black or Rust Patina, it brings cabin wall decor character to a great room, lodge den or reading nook, and makes a fitting present for anyone who pauses on the trail over paw tracks.

More about this...

Every hiker remembers the first time they found one: a fresh print beside the trail, big enough to make you stop and kneel. A bear's track gives itself away. The five toes sit almost in a straight row, the claws press in well ahead of them, and the wide heel pad says something about the animal's size. Standing back up, you can't help picturing the bear that walked there minutes before. This piece puts that picture right inside the print: an oversized paw track with a shaggy outline, its toe pads and claws cut open, and in the heel a bear ambling past tall pines and a lone snag beneath a ridgeline, with small birds flying near the claw tips.

Three finishes are available, each on steel cut by hand. Distressed Copper shimmers with swirled highlights and dark freckles, Rust Patina brings weathered orange-brown, and Hammered Black gives the crispest outline. Small nails, double-sided tape, velcro or magnets will mount it.

Picture it above the sofa in a cabin great room, over the bar cart in a lodge den, beside the fireplace, in a reading nook or on the landing of a log home stairwell. Bear wall decor and rustic wall decor in one, and a standout gift for hikers, trackers and anyone who loves bear country.

Care instructions

A soft cloth passed over the track every so often keeps dust away. Grimier patches clean up when wiped with a soft cloth that's barely damp and touched with mild glass cleaner.
